Dinner And A Movie

My niece spends a lot of time at our house.

On this one night, she was sleeping over with Alexis (because they don't see enough of each other already).

The two of them were running up and down the hallway making way too much racket and I finally thought to suggest that they put in a movie and go SIT DOWN SOMEWHERE AND WATCH THE THING!!

So ... they agreed.

Before they actually settled down to watch the movie, Alexis emerges into the hallway again, opens the door to my room and says, "Can we go get a quick snack before we start it?"

I shake my head and say, "I guess so."

As they skipped off towards the kitchen, I saw Alexis turn to her cousin, smile sweetly and say, "That way ... we won't starve." (*skip, skip, skip, skip, skip ...*)

So they won't starve - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

On the upside ... Aren't they the cutest things? Alexis could probably live 25 days on the reserves she has stored in her chubby tummy alone, and if my niece could get to those reserves - they could both live at least 12 1/2 days each. But ... if getting a quick snack would encourage them to SETTLE DOWN AND WATCH A MOVIE, then - go for it - get a snack - I wouldn't want anyone to starve, for goodness sake. (*Do ya want me to make ya a BA-ritto?*)

Sounds like she's about to call the Child Hotline. If only she had the strength to dial.

Do we need a start a "Feed Kellan's children" fund?

I just love your stories...I really do!

Too cute. Abby is frequently starving to death as well.

My daughter thinks she's going to starve if she goes more than 1 hour without food! Where do they put it all?

I think they must be long lost sisters of my daughter Alicia, who NEVER STOPS EATING..... *lol*

oooooohhhhh! pass me some popcorn and M&Ms...love; the salty and sweet when I watch movies. Don't worry, I'm not starving, I just love to eat when I watch a movie.

Cute post!

That's really cute.

If yours are like mine, they could never be in danger of really starving because they eat all day long. ALL...DAY...LONG!!!

Okay, so where did you get that picture of me for your post, hmmm? HAHA!

I'm right there with ya, Kellan; if it makes them settle down and watch a movie...YES! And there is this. If they are poking food into their faces, they can't talk. At least not as much. Ahhh, YES!

Do they hold hands when they skip? Back in olden times when I was her age, we ALWAYS held hands with our BFF...awww, happy times!

Jen said...

Isn't it funny how at just about any age, it is physically impossible to watch a movie, without getting a snack? I mean, so I've heard.

Jacki said...

You mean it never ends?? The "But mom, I am sooo hungry?" Emma does that to me all the time when she asks for a snack and I say no.

At least with a snack in their mouths they tend to be a little quieter.
Devin could live on his storage for a good 2-3 weeks but we always here "I'm Starvinggggggggg!!!!"

Have a great day,
Tami

Dang, woman- Feed your kids! I would hate to hear about the mommy blogger who neglected her children and had to be carried away in handcuffs. But, then I could say- "Yep, she commented on my blog frequently. Poor kids."

I love the relationship that my children have with their cousins too! It is truly priceless!

If you get a chance take a peek at my blog - I left you something!

That is to funny!! My girls are the same way.....they think every meal is their last!!!

So we don't starve!

Heehee. We should start a fund for your kids and all the visitors that you have in your busy house. The twins and their text messaging friends. The cousins. Oh vay!

I left you something at my blog too!

Do they really learn all this hyperbole from us??

Thats so cute! Kids pick up the funniest things to say. I can't wait to hear some of these coming out of my son's mouth. Hopefully it won't be something embarrasing in public!

Courtney said...

If you'd feed them they wouldn't be starving!!!

I love the fact that she obviously still has some baby fat!

They ARE so cute! And how lucky are they to have each other? That is wonderful!

Oh my girls are always starving and eating me out of house and home. Thank goodness they got my awesome metabolism gene. Wait a minute, I want that one back!!
We CANNOT watch a movie without popcorn in this house. If I don't make popcorn the whole world falls apart!

This is how I feel sometimes and I just love the picture.

Patti said...

Oh no, definitely don't want the children to STARVE! So dramatic at that age aren't they? LOL

I just passed an award your way.

I know you just LOVE awards but I couldn't resist ;)

Karen said...

No, no, you've got it all wrong. She's trying to keep her metabolism up so that she can burn off the reserves she's got. AND make mom insane. The whole "I just went grocery shopping two hours ago and there's no food in the house" bit.

That sounds like my house! :)

Kids are so cute. My niece spends the night here all the time even though they usually spend hours together every day too. BUT IT'S JUST NOT ENOUGH TIME! Oh, and they are always hungry too. But I don't make them BA-rittos, I make them kacy dillas.

Kellan,

That reminds me of the time that my sister and I use to spend at my grandparents camp in New Orleans. My two aunts and my grandparents were always trying to get us to calm down at night and get ready for bed. During the day though we were easy to entertain, we would just go and jump in the lake - literarily.

You are too funny! Yes, snacks and movies have saved the sanity of moms in many a household.

Pathetic! Hope they enjoyed their movie.

I have something for ya! :)

Yeah, there are times I think my life revolves around "a quick snack." And then another "quick snack" and then another . . .

That is so typical of my kids. It doesn't matter if they have just eaten, they will starve in a movie without popcorn. It's thier dad's fault of course. He's the same way!! ;0

Kids... they kill me! Too funny and so the way they are. My oldest has associated snacking with vegging in front of the tube.

"reserves" - LOL that is just too funny! I remember being a kid and saying that I was "Staaaaaaaaaaaaarving" to my mom. I'd get in trouble and then receive the "YOU are not starving. There are starving kids in China" drill.

LOL

I think it's great how Alexis has her cousin to hang out with, being that she is quite a bit younger than her siblings.

Plus, they make the best blog posts!

Oh my, I had a good chuckle here because I can so relate to this. My oldest son - 15 - is CONSTANTLY eating. Seriously, he eats twice as much as I do and is as thin as a stick.

And my youngest son - 12 - would LIKE to eat snacks but alas, I do starve him because if I feed him, then I have to fight with him to eat dinner.

The girls sound like quite a handful! lol

I just love your blog! You always make me smile. I know this this story only too well, I am always being accused of starving my girls, by my girls. I especially love when this happens when I just come home from the grocery store, after spending over $300.00 and they tell me there is no food in the house. Poor things......
However, if I can get them quiet, sitting, watching a movie, I too, will make them whatever they want, just for a few hours of peace and quiet!!
Have a good night.

Amy said...

I for one don't think anyone should be expected to watch a movie without a snack...LOL

I'm often amazed at how frequently my kids want to eat. OY! Must be those darn growth spurts!

Angela said...

It is amazing how hungry kids can get. Glad you let them eat

Irene said...

How funny. My 6 yo is the same way. She is always telling me she is "starving to death". She IS a skinny minny, but she is not starving by any means. My husband blames me for her dramatic comments, but I am glad to know it is just a "kid thing" and not my doing at all! Well...maybe a little....

My Goodness said...

Why do kids think they're actually starving!?!?!?!

My son, oh my goodness, he's going to be the size of a house by the time he's five...and one hour after a meal he says, 'Mom, I still hungy'.

That boy.

Andrea said...

ah, yes...the "i'm starving" thing.

just today we were on a playdate...and an hour after lunch, as we were getting bundled up to go home, both my girls were saying 'i'm so hungry'...SHEESH!! YOU JUST ATE!!

That is so funny. My nephew is a BONE and he always has about 4 snacks at my house between meals! He is a bottomless pit!
