A Little Forrest Gump

The other day, I was sitting on my bed.

My laptop was in front of me, my TV was on ... I had a bag of GHIRARDELLI chocolates in my lap.

I opened the bag slowly and reached my hand inside.

I pulled out a chocolate square and was thinking, I can't wait to eat this chocolate. This chocolate is going to be simply delicious - I can't wait to eat this chocolate. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum ......

When, suddenly ---- at that very same moment that I was about to tear the shiney wrapper from my chocolate square, on the TV ----- came a GHIRARDELLI commercial!

What are the odds of that?

It was wild and crazy and I can now mark it down as one of those weird little moments in my life.

I know ... not really so phenomenal, but it was a moment.

I haven't honestly had too many of those sorts of weird moments in my life - not that stand out - you know.

Once ... my sister and I were shopping together. We walked up to the cash register to check out and she began to talk to the cashier about how I had this whole basket full of stuff, but that somehow, my bill would end up being far less than hers - because I am such a frugal shopper, yada, yada, yada. When the cashier rang up my sister's bill, she stood in front of me with her bagged goods and waited for my stuff to be rung up. When the cashier hit the total button on her register - OUR BILLS WERE EXACTLY THE SAME TOTAL!!!

Another - weird moment - but not earth-shattering or life changing by any stretch of the imagination.

When I was pregnant with my twins - on the morning that I was to go to the doctor (at 4 months) for a sonogram, my husband and I went first to meet with our accountant in her office. I made the statement to our accountant, "If I am right - that I am going to have twins - then we will have two additional deductions on our taxes next year." When we left the accountant's office, I called my mother and asked her to meet us at the doctor's office. I had a feeling that she would want to be there - when the technician was going to announce that she was going to be the grandmother of twins. My mother came. When I was lying on the table in that dark room, my mother stood by my side and rambled on and on to the technician that everyone was always teasing me that I was so big and wouldn't it be really crazy if Kellan were going to have twins and ... just about that time, the technician moved her scanner over my belly, looked my mother in the face and said, "Well ... there are two babies." My mother cried.

Now ... that was a CRAZY moment and ... a LIFE CHANGING moment!

One of the most fabulous and thrilling LIFE CHANGING moments of my life!

Life is definitely like a bag of GHIRARDELLI chocolates ..... each little bit is a moment wrapped in a splendid shiney wrapper and the treat inside has the possibility of being .... SIMPLY DELICIOUS!

Happy Valentine's Day to my sweet children - to my darling husband - to my wonderful family and friends. I love you all very much!

And ... Happy Valentine's Day to all my blogging friends. Our journey together has been just like a piece of chocolate - simply delightful!!

Oh my goodness! Did they really sleep together like that? I can't imagine my kids being able to do that. Twins really are a phenomenon, aren't they?

I've had a few weird moments myself. It's fun to think of them!

That is such a precious picture of your daughters. I've always loved twin pictures...snuggling close like they did in the womb, sometimes even sucking each others thumbs. Absolutely darling.

Happy Valentine's Day to you, too, Kellan. Getting to know you through blogging has been fun, and your blog, as always, is a delight to read. Blessings my friend!

That twin thing was very cool. Memories like that you can treasure forever.

That picture is absolutely, unequivocally simply delicious! And I KNOW the way your Mom felt, because I felt the same way when I got the "IT'S TWINS!!!" call. There is something magical and delicious about twins. To add to the fun, yours were your "first" while mine were our "last." Which, of course, adds to the special-ness!

Also simply delicious is Ghirardelli caramel-filled chocolate squares. And you. And your blog. And the fortunate feeling I get from knowing you.

Have a simply delicious Valetine's Day, Kellan! ♥♥

I have those moments with my mom all. the. time: I'll be thinking of her, and she'll call; without planning, we'll have made the same exact thing for dinner; I'll be shopping, and I'll bump into my Mom (who hates to shop).

Happy Valentine's Day, and God bless.

Dear Kellan, I remember that day very clearly. Before we got there you wanted me to be there because you knew that you were having twins and I know that you wanted to have me there to share in the wonderful moment. You know that I had always wanted twins and when you and Cheryl were little I would dress you alike and when I would shop for you two and take you with me the clerks would always chastise me for dressing you two alike. Oh well I did it anyway for a while. And then you had my precious twins for me. You know from the start that I have always thought of them as mine also. Thank you for letting me share in the joy of raising these two special girls as well as special "Little Billy" and adorable Alexis. Happy Valentine's Day to You, Billy Chloe, Courtney, Billy, Alexis and the rest of my family and friends that read your wonderful Blog. Hugs and Kisses, Love, Mom

That picture (and post) is wonderful. I love twins. I just think it is the coolest, sweetest thing in the world.

Yeah, I am crazy.

Great Post! I have strange moments like that all of the time! The other day I was paying bills online, and both my gas bill and my phone bill were exactly the same amount, $88.35. Strange, huh?

I didn't find out I was having twins until my 5th month, I had kept telling my doctor that I could tell something was different, I felt bigger, but I had 3 ultrasounds prior that only showed one, (vaginal). So I'm going in for my 21 week ultrasound to find out the sex of the baby, and the US tech asked me if I had ever had an ultrasound prior to this one, then she asked me if they told me I was having one or two, and I told her one, then she said, "Well...I'm seeing two."

Of course, I started bawling my eyes out, then walked out and saw my doctor just standing there shaking his head in disbelief. The nurse grabbed him, and told me I had permission to strangle him. LOL Then six weeks later I ended up having them 3 months early. But everything turned out great in the end. I still look at them today, and can't believe that I have them. I'm so blessed.

Sorry for the long comment. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
