What Is The Matter With Me?

I usually walk around my house in a pair of white socks.

In the summer I walk around bare-footed, and that includes when I am outside - sometimes I slip on a pair of rubber flip-flops.

I go to the grocery store.

I go to the dollar store.

Occasionally, I go shopping at discount stores like Marshalls, Big Lots, Ross, Target or Wal-Mart.

I go to PTA meetings and sometimes volunteer at my childrens' schools.

I go to an occasional movie or out to dinner with my family.

I go to church.

I go to the lake.

I go on the occasional vacation.

WHERE DO I POSSIBLY THINK ....... I WILL EVER WEAR ALL OF THESE SHOES?

I don't actually know how many shoes I have, but .... these aren't even all of them. There are probably another 40 pairs you can't even see in these picutres.

Now ... if you were to ask me - "Do you like to buy shoes - are you a SHOE NUT?" I would say, "No, not really." And it would be true. I don't gravitate to shoes or search out shoes. I buy shoes - OBVIOUSLY - but shoes are not my fetish (believe it or not).

I do not have any clue how I have accumulated all of these shoes - someone that is not necessarily a SHOE NUT!

IMAGINE IF I REALLY WAS A SHOE NUT!!

On the upside ... You know those people that hoard cats - you know - have 50 or 100 cats all living in their house? I guess I'm like that. Luckily there are no "Shoe Police" going to come to my house and box up and take all these shoes from me - you never know - I might need these shoes. I DO need these shoes - else, why would I have all these shoes? (*shrinks back into her dark closet like a creepy shoe hoarder*).

so funny (and sad) my husband and i were just having this conversation the other day. i was telling him how i was thinking of getting rid of a lot of my shoe collection. she was shocked and asked "why would you get rid of something that brings you so much happiness?" so much happiness? my shoes bring me happiness...WHAT? you think my shoes bring me happiness?

he is right, they are staying.

Love Love Love the leapord print boots in the first photo!!! I also love shoes but usually I am bare foot or flip flops. That doesn't work so well in freezing tempuratures!!

I say it is all about choices!

Is your non-blogging name Imelda Maros?!

I'm kind of a closet shoe freak myself so I can relate to that. I have literally closets full of them, and then I have just a couple of favorites for summer and a couple favorites for winter! You DO have twin girls though.....same size????? They must be in shoe heaven!! Mine would be...for sure!

justabeachkat said...

Hey, I don't see a problem with your shoes. (whispering now...I have alot too and don't know why. I live in Florida so bare feet and sandals and flip flops are all I need and all I wear, but that doesn't keep me from buying more shoes. LOL)

Hugs!
Kat

LOL, Kellan...you're hilarious!

I happen to love those boots in the first picture. They'd look ridiculous with my FrumpMama apparel, but heck...they'd be pretty hot for date night. Mreow!

I thought of Imelda Marcos immediately, like Jenn @ Juggling Life did. Holy Moley Guacamole! The boots...what I would give for some of those boots. And what size are you?

Oh.My.Goodness.

I think I have five pairs of shoes. And three pairs of flip-flops.

Are there enough days in the year to wear all those shoes??!?!?!

Wow.

Kellen, I love your blog!

I personally think you are in denial about the shoes LOL

Jacki said...

Girl, you have a great shoe collection! As somone that loves shoes, I can say that you do have a shoe fetish. ;-)

I am not brave enough to post pictures of mine!!

Wow!

Do your twins borrow any of those shoes?

Oh my... can I come play in your shoe closet? I LOVE shoes. I also do not like wearing shoes. But still, I LOVE shoes and purses too. And I have a skirt that would go great with those pink slings of yours and also a pair of pants that I can see with a pair of your boots.LOL

Have a great Wednesday,

All of my shoes are hand me downs from my mom, because I loathe shoe shopping with the heat of a thousand burning suns!! Sad, huh? If I BOUGHT my own shoes and actually tried them on, they might fit comfortably and I'd learn to love them...

Jen said...

These were my thoughts reading this post...
1. Look at those boots Kellan has! She is a wild woman! (high heels, and animal prints)
2. Hmmm. OCD? Look how they are all together, pointing the same direction, perfectly spaced apart.
3. If she has that many shoes, she has more money than she knows what to do with, and needs to send some my way.
4. I think I have 10 shoes TOTAL because I am a freak with big narrow feet! (jealousy, jealousy)
5. If shoes isn't her fetish, what the heck is, and where are THOSE pictures? Then again, maybe I don't want to see THOSE ones.

Kelly said...

Holy cow! Can I come shop in your closet? :)

At least your organized about it...WOW! Don't you live in Texas? Don't ya just need a pair of shit kickers and you're all set? Ha. You have a few pairs there that I would love to borrow...Hmmm

God bless!

OOoooooooh sweetie...I so feel your pain...lol! I counted all the pairs of shoes in my closet once...it was not good...I keep mine in their original boxes with polaroids on the front of the boxes now...Every six months or so, I let my daughter have free run of what she wants...gives me an excuse to buy more...because you never know when you will need "that" pair. To top if off, I have the same obsession with boots...yikes! Those get expensive in a hurry!

My husband tells me he can't understand why I need so many shoes/boots, I can only wear ONE pair at a time...MEN...sigh..

Karen said...

Kellan, I think you need to seek out a 12 step program. I'm just sayin.

Courtney said...

That is a lot of shoes woman! I agree with karen, you need a 12 step program. By the way the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem.

Katrina said...

Wow! Now I do LOVE shoes, but I don't have this many! Man alive. The funny this I noticed is that you have a lot of similar shoes. Now that could be your problem right there. :-)

Brittany said...

I was just thinking of how lucky your daughters are if they get to share the shoes with you. I would have loved walking into that closet as a teenager but my feet were bigger than my mom's by the time I was in jr. high. I love how neat your shoes all are.

ValleyGirl said...

Great googely-moogely, is right!!! Holy smokes! Do you know I have exactly FIVE pairs of viable footwear??!! And that includes two pairs of winter boots! Man, if you ever feel like you need to get rid of a few pairs, I promise I'll give them a good home!

You and I Kellan could be best friends. Want to double your collection? What size are you?

kim-d said...

Here is the way I see it. There is NOTHING wrong with you. Because it is every woman's inalienable right to own way too many pairs of shoes without guilt and/or need for explanation.

However, I am a little concerned about your state of denial with regards to being a shoe nut. My dear, anyone with a pair of leopard-print boots is a shoe nut. So, say it with me--YOU CAN DO IT--"Hi, my name is Kellan, and I loves me some shoes..."

The first step is admitting it...
HAHAHAHA!

Peapodsquadmom said...

Kellan, here is the recipe. 2 cups colored gold fish crackers, crushed. 1 cup ranch salad dressing, 1 pound chicken breast tenderloins, dip in ranch, then crushed gold fish, bake 425* for 20 minutes, serve with a side of ranch to dip in. Yum yum

All right, Carrie Bradshaw.

(Since someone already referenced Imelda Marcos, I had to reach a bit.)

Holy moley. But, yeah, good thing you don't have a shoe fetish. :-)

Leah said...

KELLAN!!!!!!! That is hilarious! I own three foot-wear items. A pair of tennies, a black pair of loafers and a pair of winter boots. THE END. This summer I will stock up on cheap Old Navy flip flops and call it good.

My almost-six-year-old daughter will have a shoe hoarding issue like that someday. Even as a SMALL child, she would point and comment and OHH and AHH over people's shoes. She's constantly talking about needing new shoes, goes CRAZY in a shoe store, and told me yesterday she wants to ask Santa for some Uggs for Christmas. I had to come home and google what the heck an Ugg was! LOL

tommie said...

Holy shoes, Batman! At least they are organized. I have probably 20 pairs of shoes. Half of them are flipflops.

Sheri said...

Holy Smokes! Kellan, this is and intervention. You ARE a shoe nut! LOL

Janice said...

I my gosh, that is so me. I love to buy new shoes, yet I never wear them. I am a flip flop nut and have way to many, but I hate socks, and so I can't figure out why I keep buying shoes....hmmmm weird...

Angie said...

You probably have all those shoes because you never wear them out. How many pairs of flip-flops do you go through in a year?

And...

You are SOOO Texan - look at all those sexy, sassy boot-like shoes. LOL!

bren j. said...

Okay, not only that, but shoes, at least, don't need a litter box and don't smell and people generally aren't allergic to them. Hooray!

You are so organized! I'm impressed. And I totally see a pair I need to borrow for one of those summer weddings, okay? I'll be right over. :)

I think that you need to come up with an activity (or a couple) each week or so where you can where one of your lovely shoes that go unworn. Then you don't have to justify them. You NEED them!

Amy said...

Do you share these shoes with your daughters?

dlyn said...

Holy Sha-moly! I don't think I have owned that many pair of shoes in my whole life put together. :D I have an extensive collection of flip flops, but just one pair each of anything ele I might need. I hate shoe shopping, shoe breaking in, shoe storing, shoe tripping over and shoe getting rid of [you seem to share this last one].

Mom said...

Kellan, your blogging friends don't know that when you worked several years ago, that every dress or suit you wore had to have the high heel pointed pretty shoes, purse, jewelry and everything to match. Everyone you worked with always commented on how perfectly put together you were. I say all that to say that is the way you have always been. When I've been there to baby sit and you and Billy are going out for the evening there you are dressed to the nines, and yes you can be sure that you always have on one of those pretty pair of shoes. They also don't know that every cruise that you go on that you change into several different outfits during the day and shoes and everything has to match. They need to know that you deserve all of this because you work very hard at everything that you do and you are so generous and good to everyone. Guess you know that I love you and I am very proud of you. Sorry this is so long!!!!! Love, Mom

The best part- some of those shoes look VERY similar to shoes just a few pairs over, just a slight difference in the heel or something. :) I throw my shoes out when they get dusty- no lie, so I always have the trendiest pair. Except sneakers which I wear most days and I wear 1 pair til they fall apart and then buy another. I'm all about NO clutter.
