So ... Dad had to go home Sunday evening and left Mom at the lake with the two little ones.
Courtney and Chloe had to be home for a softball game on Monday and on Wednesday and Mom decided to keep the little ones at the lake for the week.
The twins and Dad will return to the lake later on in the week for more Spring Break fun.
In the meantime ... Mom announces, in the car on the way to Wal-Mart for a Sunday evening grocery run, that she thinks it might be fun for her and the little ones to go to a movie - maybe on Monday night.
She suggests that maybe the movie should be Horton Hears a Who.
Little Billy, sitting in the seat directly behind his mother perks up and says, "Really! If we did that - we'd love you forever and ever!" very excited at this proposition.
Alexis squeals with delight, "Yeah - forever and ever," also very excited!
Little Billy then says, "Well ... we love ya a lot already," realizing that what he first said might upset his mother.
The mom smiles.
Then, in a very quiet whisper, the mom hears the boy say to his sister, "Shew ... that was close."
The sister whispers back, "Yeah - that was close."
On the upside ... Sometimes, I am just like a big dumb *Horton* elephant - hearing things I'm not really supposed to be hearing ... but hearing it anyway - you know! Or maybe, I'm really like a little Who Mama - living in Whoville - hearing stuff I'm not supposed to be hearing - but hearing it anyway. I rather like the idea of being a little Who Mama rather than a big dumb elephant - now that I think about it. And ... living in Whoville with all those other crazy Who people - YES - I definitely would rather be thought of as a Who Mama living in Whoville. Never mind the big dumb *Horton* elephant comparison. (I'm over-thinking this - aren't I?)
*Note to self: Horton is not real! Whoville is not real! Give Alexis back her Dr. Seuss books - buy yourself some grown-up books before you permanently start talking in riddles and rhymes*

What a save, Little Billy!
That was a cute post. :)
He is slick...very slick...I am afraid for your future....very afraid.
My brain is sort of hazy,
I think you're talkin' crazy!!
I'm so confused,
and about this Dr. Seuss...
Hope you went and enjoyed the movie!
Your kids are so funny and sweet. I just saw this movie with my family last night and I loved it. I'd rather be a Who mama also.
Seussian pentameter is breaking out all over the blogosphere!
He is quick and will grow to be a wonderful husband one day. hehe, always knowing when to patch things up before its too later. Good for him, better a little later than never. I feel like a big elephant with all our st patties day food this past week. Time to diet!
Very smooth save. He's going to kill with the ladies.
Whoville isn't real??? You've killed my dreams! ;)
AW! That is SO cute!!! :) Little Billy seems like quite the lover... I hope my boys are lovers! :)
so cute! And I really want to see the dr. seuss movie!
Seriously Kellan, I'll send you some big girl books. i have boxes full.
:-)
You're too cute.
It's mommy ears, I tell ya. I've always had them and it drives people crazy :-) I always hear things I'm sure I'm not supposed to. Don't want me to hear, move at least two to three rooms away, or go outside :-)
How's the little one?
Your posts make me smile....THANKS!
And now I feel compelled to say "Who's Yo Mama?" for no reason that makes sense.
WhoMama is better, and funnier. Very cute kids.
Let me know what you'd like to read...I can send you a couple!!! And it sounds like Little Billy is learning from Dad...learning early!
Great story, Kellan! Very cute. It sounds like you are the best mommy in Whoville and beyond! I'm hoping this movie will be a safe choice for my 4 year old and 3 year old. It will be their first movie theater experience.
We just took our kids to see this. You would be the perfect WhoMama. Did you like when one kid asked for a glass of water they ALL did? Oh yes, we know this one well! :)
What did "we" think of the movie?? I don't have warm fuzzy feelings or urgent feelings of NEED to see it from the previews on TV, but I'm sure my kids would love it!
Kids say the cutest most clever things, don't they?
It is a "mother thing" I think we all hear a lot of stuff that we shouldn't hehehe
cheers kim
LOL! So cute! "Shew!"
"he who has ears to hear let him hear" lol :)
I think that since it is Spring Break and you are at your beautiful Lake, you should be able to talk in riddles and rhymes all the time! And you are a very cute Who Mama, too. And that Little Billy; from here on in, I'm calling him "Slick." Look out, girls!!!!
Have a wonderful day, Kellan Renee. I sure wish I was there with you!
LOL. Little Billy's brain works pretty fast. Whether you are Horton elephant or Who Mama, they still love you very much.
Little Billy has a future career in politics and it sounds like precious lil Alexis can be his campaign manager. I wanted to take d man to see Horton this past weekend but he opted for Never Back Down. Now he is pushing for Horton for next weekend. Enjoy the lake.
:0)

Too funny, Kellan. Did you end up taking them to the movie? How'd it go?
Enjoy your week at the lake. I'll catch you on Sunday.
Heidi
Kellan, this post reminds me SO much of the many years I spent teaching first grade. Sometimes, I felt like I had simply lost almost my entire vocabulary!
Thoroughly enjoyable, as always.
Continued fun times at the lake. Hope you guys don't get some of the storms WE are expecting later today. March is -- as can many other times of the year in Texas --rife with unexpected weather occurrences.
Oh, and a P.S. Of course you were over-analyzing ... don't we all, from time to time?
Love your posts, Kellan. You make me smile.
So did they get to see the movie?? We saw it on Saturday. It was pretty cute.
That is too funny. They must think they whisper really well! Have a great Tuesday.
The children are so cute. They are smart too, eh?
Will you let me know how you like the movie? My husband wants us to go see that (on OUR date night)! Also, please, please do the favor I asked on my recent post - since you read soooo many blogs I know you must know of the funny ones.
Great post!
Because after all...
a person's a person
no matter how small...
Sorry...couldn't resist. :)
Hi, Kellan!
I want to see that movie, it looks so cute and has received good reviews. You'll have to let us know what you thought of it! Enjoy your week at the lake with the little ones, sound like fun!
Lizzy
Kellan, you crack me up! hee hee.... give Alexis back her Dr. Suess.....
Thanks for the early morning chuckle....oh wait it's 10 am....yikes. I was up every 2 hours with a sick kiddo....
:-)
So. . . how was the movie? I'm considering taking Maddie, but want a real review before I shell out the moolah.
Good save! Ha ha!
Now that's cute! You could hear the relief in his voice. *lol*
Julie
One post, Two post, Red Post, Fun post...
Why read adult literature????
Your kiddos are a hoot!
I'm so with you on the Dr. Suess thing...I can't read those dern books without thinking in riddles and rhymes for days afterward, lol.
Have fun with the little ones at the lake!
LOL He is a smart one, learns fast, he does. ;)
I love all the Spring Break posts before this one, you all seem to be relaxing and having fun!
Aww. That's cute! How sweet that he is so concerned about your feelings. Too adorable!
what a lovely post and you never fail to make me smile..
Yes, of course you're over-thinking this!
But...it sure does make for a funny post ;)
Keep it coming...
Yeah - us moms hear things we really shouldn't sometimes.
Great post.
That is a smart boy you got there. I think who mama sounded better as well though not as funny as who elephant ;-)
♥ Too funny! You crack me up! Such a close call! :)
awww.how sweet! my friend saw horton and said it was awesome. we want your review after you see it!
Horton is awesome!
Horton is cool...and you are way cool!!!!
PS - Those photos of the lake...well...I think they are depressing, tiring, and just plain terrible...oh wait, I am talking about the photo of the 10 foot high snow bank in my front yard that I took...your photos...well, one word: JEALOUS!
Way to cover, Little Billy!
My kids are begging to see that movie. I think we're going on Friday.
I had this BIG! FUN! Day! planned for the boy and I this past Friday that included a trip to the theater to see Horton Hears a Who, but the rotten kid said he didn't want to go. !?! Whatever! Sounds like you're having a wonderful "Spring Break"!
That little Billy "Shew, that was close". He cracks me right up! I want to take Maddie to a movie but a 3 it's a tough call. I don't think she'd sit still for Horton. Some type of Cartoon (although this is a kid who is obsessed with A Christmas Story). Enjoy the Lake honey!
Good save Little Billy!
Your note to self is really cracking me up! Isn't it funny how we turn into a kid when we are a mom?
Love the pics and stories in the above two posts! I just can't enough of fun family times posts- it's so encouraging to see people celebrating their family !! I can't wait to see that movie.
Yes, the Who mom sounds better than the Horton elephant but I think the kiddo's prolly love you just the way you are ;)
PS. Good save little Billy. HA!
