Sunday Afternoon

Again, I just want to give my thanks to everyone that has been thinking about and praying for my sweet little great-nephew. Your prayers are a gift to my family and I can't tell you how much we appreciate your support and love.

I am not able to visit the baby in ICU, as I am only his aunt and it won't be for a while before they let me in to see him. My sister goes daily and is able to be near him (and my nephew and the baby's mother) and has taken pictures for the rest of the family to share. My mother is also able to visit and has been several times.

For now, the baby is doing fine. The doctors and nurses seem pleased with how stable he is. There as been no traumatic events, as of yet, and that is good. He is holding his own and seems to be okay, for now. We know that this is a long road ahead and it will take time to see how strong he will grow and what affects (if any) this early birth will have on his life. We can only hope for the best.

We don't know the plan that God has for this baby's life, but what I do know is that he has already touched many lives. I know that God stays close to this child and is aware of how many love him and pray for him.

I appreciate the support and kindness we have received from so many wonderful women - so many wonderful mothers. Is there anything stronger than a group of women - really? Is there any group more driven? More compassionate? I don't think so! I think we are called to each other and when there is a need, we rally for one another and I am proud to be part of such a wonderful group of women that have rallied the way you all have around me and my family and this precious baby! I can't tell you how proud you make me and how touched I am!

I will be updating from time to time to let you all know how our sweet baby is doing. For now ... he is precious and stable and doing as well as can be expected. We thank God for this!

Just stopping by to check for updates. I hope the little guy is doing well today.

Isn't it awesome to be a part of the "bloggy sisterhood?" The first time I asked for prayer I was amazed at how many people stopped by to say they would pray.

Keep us updated.

If love can make everything ok this baby will be fine. I have a feeling he has so many people around praying for him he can't help but feel it.

I haven't visited your blog for a few days and so I am just now catching up on everything that is going on. As a mom of a preemie, I can totally sympathize with what your family is going through. Preemies are remarkable little creatures. They are a species of their own. They have more fight in them, I think, than any other living being on earth. My first was my preemie and I think, in the long run, that has made me a much, MUCH stronger mother. You are all in my prayers.
Oh, and if I can offer one good piece of advice, tell the new mom to reach out to others who are there in the NICU, going through the same thing. It really does help to know you aren't alone.

You are so right, Kellan. There is nothing more powerful than a group of women on a heartfelt mission.

I am so glad to hear that he is doing well. God is listening and we are still praying.

Take care!

Hey Kellan - sorry I have been MIA and just found out about the baby. Please know that he is in my thoughts... I sure hope he gets better soon!

You know, medical technology is a wonderful thing. My sister had a baby born at 26 weeks, just a little over a pound - 1 pound 8 ounces I belive. And now she is a cocky smart mouthed 18 year old :) So, believe me, no matter how small they are - they can make it through anything!!

Thank you for the update. I am glad he is stable, and I hope he will start improving soon. How is his momma doing? Is her body healing well? I know how traumatic a premature birth can be.

I'm so glad to hear he's stable. He's a tough little guy and God must have big plans for him. :)

So glad to hear he his hanging in there. A friend of mine had twin boys that had to be taken by C-section at 23 weeks. One weighed less than a pound and one less than 2 pounds. Though it wasn't an easy road, they both made it! Just wanted to let you know.

Patti said...

Stable is good. The only affect I had from my premature birth was hearing problems but no speech or vision etc. I am thankful. Yes God has a plan for your great nephew. I am sure of it.

Good to hear that he is doing well. We've been thinking about him here. It's amazing how such a tiny little person can be so strong, but he's got a lot of people and prayers behind him, too.

BeachMama said...

We will keep him in our prayers Kellan.

I have a close friend who's little girl was born at a similar time, they called her a micro-preemie. She is doing very well now at two years old. I will pray that your nephew does as well as she did.

Kellan, I was out of town for a few days and am just now catching up. He is in my prayers. It is miraculous what they can do now wiht premature babies. My niece was 2 lbs and a few ounces when she was born and now is a strong, TALL girl in Kindergarten.
