Two Caterpillars Sitting On The Bed

So ... it's about 1:00 on Saturday afternoon and I am relaxing on my bed just watching some TV.

Alexis comes into my room with her blanket and climbs up on my bed with me.

She makes herself comfortable. She pulls a pillow behind her head. She straightens her legs out in front of her and throws her blanket across. She tucks the blanket all around her feet and all the way up her body and all I can see is her head, peaking out the top - she looks like a snug little caterpillar in a cozy cacoon.

She lies there still for a while, watching the cooking channel with me on TV and then in a squeaky little voice she suddenly says, "I'm the only one in the house that looks like a mess," she pulls the blanket over her head.

I look in her direction and say, "Have you looked at me?" reaching my hand up to smooth down my hair.

She doesn't look, but says, "Your hair doesn't look a mess - mine does."

I leaned way forward so she could see my face and my hair and say, "Look again!"

She cracked a big ol' messy-haired-catapillar smile and said, "Okay ... you look a mess too. We're the only two in this house ... that look a mess."

We both laugh.

On the upside ... Her hair was a mess, but ... she absolutely did not look as bad as I did. I think, once she really got a good look at me - it made her feel a whole lot better. She quickly slipped out from inside of her warm cacoon and ... we both agreed to get up and go brush our hair.

Hee hee...that was cute! :)

ps: as for why I'm privitizing my blog...a couple of reasons. First one is privacy. In the back of my mind, it always was slightly unnverving that ANYBODY in the world can be reading this. And knowing that a lot of people read it and don't comment...well, it was just unsettling for me. I figure if people have access into my life, the least they can do is let me know that they're reading it.

Time is also a factor. The more I'm in the blog-world, the more bloggers fine me and I them. It gets hard to keep up with everyone, and I want to make sure I don't get TOO absorbed in my computer.

So cute! I can send her a picture of me. I always look a mess. Trust me, it would make her feel better. :)

Only girls notice things like that. My sons would walk around for a week with messy hair and be none the wiser.

In a house full of boys, I am the only caterpillar who *cares* that I look like a mess :)

I love those special cuddle times with my kids. It's o.k. to have messy hair once in awhile. Have a great day Kellan.

Sounds Like things are starting to get back to normal slowly :) PS I love when my kids crawl in bed with me :)

Oh my gosh, Kellan Renee...you and your HEART-MELTING kids :)!

I think Alexis, at 6, is just precious. I also think Alexis, at 16, is going to be a beauty. Sometimes, looking "a mess" IS beautiful...which is what I think you two probably were yesterday!

I am so glad you're back, Kellan. Really, I missed you so much and was worried about you. I am so glad that you're able to snuggle in and take it easy and recover FULLY. Your health and well-being matter to me, and I think that the best thing for speedy recovery is being home in your own bed where a messy-haired caterpillar is free to join you!

Have a wonderful day, Kellan Renee!

Awww, how cute is she?

It's amazing how much better you feel when you get a chance to spruce up a bit after being sick. Like a million bucks, I say!

:-)

And also? I LOVE the cooking channel!

Burshing hair is overrated. ;)

When your sick you get a special pass and so do your kids!! It's called the hairbrushing pass! ;)

Feel better!

How sweet!! I love the brushing hair time with Emily. She likes to tell me that my hair is messy at the end of the day, and she'll brush it and put clips in it for me while I read the bedtime stories.

Sounds like you had a nice relaxing day, and it sounds like Alexis took good care of you!

We have a spray bottle full of water and can't leave the house in the morning without some serious hair flattening where the boys are concerned.

As mom's we do what we can to improve moral. If it means looking like a mess, I'm willing to take one for the team too! lol. Good job Kellan!

Go forth and eat, you need your strength :-)

I was in the hopital for 4 days after I had Jack (C-section) and the food? YUCK!

I can't imagine 8 days of it!

katie said...

sigh, girls to crawl into bed with you?? that's all I heard with my selective hearing - you have girls and me, just 4 boys... that do not enjoy a good cuddle.

*okay, I'm lying, my 7 year olves it... but still want girls...

Kellan,

So glad to know you are up and at em again. I really hope you are taking good care of yourself. Not for just your sake, but think of your readers. Do not leave us without our daily read! Just kidding. I have enjoyed reading about your recovery and your family during this past two weeks. I haven't commented on each one since I was gone myself and just got all caught up.

KEEP BELIEVING

I am behind in my commenting but first I have to say I'm glad you're on the mend. It must have been so hard to be so sick. But now, the sweet moments like this with your little ones must be that much sweeter. Aww.

What a cute story! I'm a mess, too. I have got to do something with my hair. It just never seems to be a priority in my crazy life.

Pam said...

I'm just so glad you are feeling better....who cares what your hair looks like!

Cute story though....I'm sure my little one will soon notice she is a mess too!

Andrea said...

haha...too cute! I'm the only female in our house (so far!) so I do that messy hair duty all alone...but that will soon change I guess since it's only 2 months until our little girl is supposed to arrive!

Tammy said...

My girls always comment on my hair in the morning. ALWAYS. Something like, "nice hairdo mom," or "looks like you worked hard on that through the night." BRATS. lol! :)
