Banana Pancakes Anyone?

Here he is.

Courtney's cat.

The one I told her she couldn't have.

The one her daddy let her have anyway.

The one she named Banana.

Banana Pancake, to be exact.

Banana, for short.

We took him outside.

It was his first time outdoors.

His first time to feel the grass and hear the birds.

He just sort of stood there.

He was kinda freaked out.

A bit of a scaredy cat.

I took these picutres ... not because I think he is so cute.

Not because I love him to pieces.

Not because he is so sweet that I just want to pour maple syrup all over him and eat him up!

Not even because he is the 11th member and an essential part of our happy little family.

Nooooo ...

I took these pictures ...

So I could practice using my ...

Canon Rebel XTI.

The one I got ...

The one I got for ...

CHRISTMAS!

On the upside ... It took me a lot of pictures to get these four - and they're not all that great. I learned A LOT about what NOT TO DO, in the process of taking these four measly pictures. But ... I'm not giving up. I'm going to learn how to use this camera - learn all of its functions and dials and buttons and knobs and ... settings. I'm determined to learn it - I know I can do it!

(MamaGeek and Kami - So ... what do you think? Am I on my way to being a real photographer - like you guys? Can you see those whiskers?)

Those pics are fabulous Kellan! I CAN see those whiskers. I think the last pic is my favorite. Oh such a cute kitty. I'm glad your hubby let her keep the kitten so you could learn to use your camera.

Hellza yeah; you did good Kellan! My favorite shot is shot #3. Nice and crisp. Were you in manual mode by chance? Lots-o-practice, knowing your camera inside out and some good glass definitely help.

One of my favorite quotes is "your first 10,000 pictures are your worst". I'm on 5,000 myself. :)

Well done I say!

Great job on the pictures. I would LOVE to get a nice camera but for now, the Kodak Easyshare will have to do!! That cat is so precious too, I just love her! (I'm a cat fanatic)

I was just about to ask how little Banana was fitting into your household. These little fellas can definitely make their presence known.

As I'm writing this, Buster is lying on my feet, all 12 pounds of him (and he's only a year old!), Sassy is curled up by my side and Nike Sneakers is by the door mooching for me to go fill his food bowl again - oink oink!

Great job on the pics. And if what MamaGeek says is true, then I can't imagine how brilliant photo number 10,001 will be. :)

Love the name. Banana Pancake. Too cute.

Do they call him Banana Pancake...
Or just banana?
Sweet baby. He has a good home...he is LUCKY.
He is YOURS for the next 15 years.

I would love one of those fancy cameras but I know I would never take the time to figure out how to use it. Looks like you are getting yours figured out!

I love kitties! Ours is mean and doesn't approve of us living here but we're scared she'll scratch us to death if we get rid of her!

Your photos were great. You did fantastic.

I think those pictures are great.
Don't use the cute kitten as practice anymore, though it's making me want one.

I'm jealous of your camera - that's just sad.

Dawn said...

That Banana Pancake is so adorable...and I love the name! I'm still learning to use my new camera as well. I think your pictures are fabulous.

I love my Rebel XTI!
Great job! I'm with MG, #3 is my fav!!

Julie said...

Oh! ... I want a Canon Digital Rebel so bad!! ... AND, I want that kitty! *rofl*

Kelli said...

I thought the pictures were great. I could see his hair standing up when he was scared.

Courtney said...

It doesn't matter why you took his picture, but he is just too cute. You are learning well because those pictures are good.

Queen of My Domain said...

That was very cooperative of that sweet kitty to sit long enough for you to practice. Most the time my bunch doesn't do that good. I bet in no time you will love your Canon as much as I love mine. Great job with the pictures.

What a cute little kitty

Bren said...

Well done! And I love the kitty's name!

I will definitely let you know when we finalize the San Antonio plans. It's be great to get together!

Joanna said...

Aww such a cute kitty!! Awesome pictures - I will bow and pay homage as I'm still learning.

Family Adventure said...

Gorgeous kitty. I can see why daddy let him stay.

From a decidedly non-expert, I would venture to say that you are DEFINITELY on your way to becoming a full-fledged Photographer (that's with a capital P). The shots are beautiful. Well done!!

That is just the cutest kitten I have ever seen and the name is adorable!!
I love the photos ~ you have the camera that I really want, only over here in the UK it is called the Canon EOS (I think!!).

He looks like a young lion in the grass, don't you think?

girlytwins said...

He is a cutie. Too bad I am allergic to kitty's. My girls will never get to have a cute little kitty to cuddle with.

I think the pictures are great. It always takes a while to get used to all the functions :)

I admire your determination to learn about all the gizmos on your camera. It's handy to have a photographer (on the side) for a husband...he knows all that technical stuff.

I like the pictures - they turned out well! I'm trying to teach myself to take better food pictures. So far, it's not going all that well.

Steph said...

Ok Now I want a kitten, Thanks Kellan if it isn't babies it kitty's. LOL

HRH said...

Cute cat. I like the name.

Kami said...

Kellan, I am SO not a real photographer! Not even a decent amateur...

Those are great shots and I have the exact same problem. I get fewer great shots with this one but a lot more really crummy ones. The honeymoon is over, I have now reached the wow, perhaps we rushed into this too soon phase of my relationship with my Rebel.

I am taking a one night course this coming Monday, I hope it breaks down some walls between us and we can move forward.

:-)

Ps I want to pour maple syrup on him and eat him up too.

joan said...

Great photos Kellan!! That is the camera I want to get some day. I love that little kitty especially his name!

Leah said...

have fun playing with the camera! And if my hubby weren't holding firm in the "we're not getting a second cat" rule, I'd be on my way to pick out a cute orange kitty just like Banana Pancake LOL

Monogram Queen said...

Who are you trying to kid? I know you are already hooked on the orangey adorable-nedd that is that kitten! LOVE the pics though
but I REALLY love that kitten *sigh*

Thanks for visiting and commenting on my blog :)

These are fantastic pictures of a fantastically cute kitty with a very cute name, but then maybe I'm biased on all things banana-ish! :)
