Somebody Needs To Get That Girl A Day Planner ...

I have mentioned what a planner Alexis is.

She might be a tad obsessive.

She might just be a bit controlling.

She very well could begin writing to-do lists any ... day now.

She is ...

After all ...

Her mother's child.

She might be only 6 years old, but ...

She is a planner!

She says, "How long 'till my Birthday?"

Me - standing in the kitchen, cooking dinner. "It's less than a month away."

"How many days is that?" she is sitting on the bar stool watching me cook.

"I don't know, Hon - 25," I guess this answer.

She is thinking.

She says, "I want to go to Splash Town for my birthday," she smiles big.

I smile.

"Maybe Pump It Up - Yep, I want to go to Pump It Up," she smiles big.

I smile.

"Next year I'll go to Fiesta Texas," she picks up a carrot and sticks it in her mouth and she ... smiles big.

I smile.

"Then ... the next year," she gags on the carrot and spits it out on the counter, "I want to go to Schlitterbaun Water Park," she smiles big.

I smile.

"Could I go to Schlitterbaun?" she waits for me to answer.

"I don't see why not," I continue to cook.

She jumps down from the bar stool and heads off to the living room . I hear her saying, "Okay ... when I get to be 10 - I want to go to Schlitterbaun," she sits down on the couch, "Or ... maybe Sea World ...."

Me ---

I am no longer smiling.

On the upside ... Honestly ... I don't have a CLUE where she wants to go for her birthday! I can't keep up with that girl and her ideas - her plans - her schedule!! I can only imagine when she has something REALLY important to plan - *sigh* - like a WEDDING! I guess it could be worse. She could be begging to be taken to that filthy GERM HOLE with the gigantic happy RAT - Chuck E. Cheeses!

You're right, it could be that awful Rodent Place. Sea World would be my vote. And bravo to Alexis on her way to note taking and lists. A girl after my own heart!

Oh that is cute. I am so impressed with the fact that she eats carrots. The "planning" is almost as bad as Halloween when you get them a costume & hold your breath hoping that they don't change their mind.

Michelle said...

Ahhh, a girl after my own heart! Have you bought her a journal yet ;)

The good news is that with so many interests, no matter what she does with her birthday, she'll have fun! And really, that's all that matters.

I love how you describe Chuckie Cheese lol Im with ya on that one! We went last week and I chased the kids around with purreal

Oh C'mon- Chuck E- Rotovirus cheese isn't so bad!!!! :)

ugh. My two year old is already hooked on C.E.C. ugh. ugh. ugh. Oh well, it could be worse, I suppose.

Planners...my kinda girls! :)

Hey maybe she'll be a socialite and her planning skills will work for her!

Have a great week, especially at BlogHer!

This is so funny. My little one is such a planner too. She has already planned her halloween outfit...and part of her December bday.
BTW. Sporty girl was born in TX. Her biggest dream still is to go Schlitterbaun one day. We see it on the travel chanel and she gets all a twitter....
take care.

Sounds just like my girls! They start planning their Birthdays a few months after their last one. I made a rule, no talking about birthday parties until one month before.

Christie and Hannah still say I "owe" them a party, even thou their birthdays were months ago. I can't win this one.

XOXOX

The way you described Chuck E. Cheese is so perfect. ;) Your daughter's planning reminds me of my daughter so much.

My little girl is just like that. She is four and already has her next 3 birthdays planned. Unfortunately for me, they all involve the rat hole- chuck e. cheese.

Ann(ie) said...

exactly. My boy seems to think Chuck E. himself hung the damn moon.

justabeachkat said...

Our daughter was the same way. Each night when I tucked her into bed, she would ask "what we doing tomorrow Mommy?". It didn't matter what I told her (grocery shopping, etc.), we damn sure better do it. It was on her "to do" list. LOL

Hugs!

It is never to early to start planning a wedding!! It is an important day! :)

Rebecca a.k.a. Mum said...

hehe well when she decides at least you will know exactly what she wants to do for her party.

Oh yes, we had many a party at chuck-e-cheese. such a nice place. lol

It's good to have a long-range plan.

JO-N said...

Oh Kellan, she will make up her mind when her birthday comes and you don't have to crack your mind if she has everything planned, if only, you have the money and the time and the energy to bring her to wherever she plans.

and I just hope I don't forget this is HER birthday month!

Denise Wheeler said...

Ok, I just want to know one thing. Can I come to her birthday party? I love all of those places. HA~

I am TOTALLY on board with Schlitterbahn!! I loved that place as a kid. I took my husband there a few years back and we had so much fun acting like kids again!

At least she has it all worked out for the next few years, but yeah, wedding planning is going to be HE**! good luck! : )

I love lists! I make them all the time. Apparently my 10 year old daughter has gotten this gene from me or just has noticed all the lists I make. Before she will/can clean her room... she MUST make lists!!! It really does make my heart swell..... lol

♡ I'm reading along minding my own business thinking this is a cute post and then read the gigantic happy RAT and bust a laugh out loud!!! It's so true!!! :)

My boys are still happy to be told where they are going!!

I think it's a girl thing. My 7 yr old plans everything. I finally just gave her a calendar for her room so she'll stop asking me when, when when?

Leaving for SC tomorrow - hope you have a great Blogher trip!
Take lots of pictures.

Tara said...

How funny! Maybe buy her that planner for her birthday, eh? Whatever she ends up doing, I hope her birthday is a good one.

Threeundertwo said...

I think one month I went to Pump it up five different times.

Why don't we invent a party place?

She is so cute.

Amanda said...

Sounds like me and my mom (but I'm 29 and shes 53) LOL! Good luck with the birthday plans! I know those wishes change often and you don't want to be stuck on an old idea when she changed her mind and wants to go somewhere else.

Laura said...

You will not have to worry about her wedding - she will have it all planned by the time she is 10! I had a friend that seriously took out her 25 year old diary and reviewed the wedding plans she made back then for her wedding last year! Seriously! She was a planner...

Monogram Queen said...

We did the Rodent Place last year for Mad's 3rd. Done with it. This year we are going to Young Chef's Academy.
Hey nothing wrong with planning - you just gotta keep up! LOL

Kel said...

HA - my daughter plans out what type of cake she wants for her birtday for the next few years. She doesn't usually pick out where until shortly before, but her cake...now that is a work of art. Oh and presents...yep she'll pick those out ALL YEAR LONG. :) Kids, they sure like to keep you guessing!

Have a great day!

She's one smart cute little cookie, that's for sure!

Jen said...

HA! I will now be calling it the GERM HOLE from now on. I might never set foot in that dreaded place again.
Kids and their birthdays - the enthusiasm and anticipation is incredible!

jamie said...

LOL! I love it. We should all plan our birthdays years and years out--something to look forward to. I think your little bug is on to something! :)

Courtney said...

She will be a bridezilla! Good luck with that.

Queen of My Domain said...

I have a planner in my bunch also. It really is both a blessing and a curse. They tend to get things done ONCE they decide what it is they want. I also have a son already planning his party 3 months away...but so far he hasn't mentioned the Rat place, thank goodness.

Kaci said...

LOL! I love her!! She sounds so cute and maddening at the same time!! LOL! My daughter loves the filthy GERM HOLE where I cringe every time she says she wants to go there. GAG!! :)

Shari/"Whiger" said...

Schlitterbaun? I can't even imagine how that's pronounced without putting my foot in my mouth. Unfamiliar words scare me. Kudos to a six-year-old who uses a 13 letter word. Then again, probably common by your area. We get a lot of Indian names for cities in our area. That's hard enough for me.

Joanna said...

hahaha - I'm suddenly concerned for YOU surviving her wedding plans. :)

Helen E.M. Wright said...

The question it...will she remember what she plans?!?!?

Too cute!!!

Amanda said...

I am such a planner too!!! And I want to come visit TX so I can go to Schlitterbaun!!!!

laurwilk said...

Ha, she is so cute! I wish I had some of her planning in me. I'm a disorganized mess!

I love Chuck E. Cheese! I find an excuse to take my siblings there all the time. But, we don't have a Sea World or Schlitterbaun (no idea on that one) so I guess my siblings are living deprived lives (ha, hardly).

Kids birthday parties are so fun!

Tanja said...

Gotta love "to-do" lists, that just means that she's going to be a go getter and that's all right!!

Toni said...

Ah, to be 10 again and looking forward to birthdays. These days I just want to hide from them.....

Julie said...

*rofl* ... We've done the "germ hole" for birthdays before ;)

Jaina said...

Oh goodness. I much preferred Discovery Zone before they went out of business. They were so much more fun.

tammy said...

She makes me smile!

TONYA said...

Nothing better than an indecisive woman .. oh yes, there is ... an indecisive girl :)

THopgood said...

I think you should take advantage of this and just let her do her own party planning...and if she's willing to come up here to Michigan I'd be willing to pay her to plan my own 3 kids' birthday parties because I find it all incredibly stressful!

;)

Pregnantly Plump said...

I'm a bit of a planner like that now with Little Elvis. But I wasn't really with myself. My mom was and is though. I think I just didn't have to plan when I was younger, because she was always so creative with my birthday parties.

Good & Crazy said...

Oh I'm laughing. Could be planning a wedding indeed!

Kelli said...

she is my kind of girl. Love her

Donna said...

She's Sharp! Just like Mommy! Happy day sweetie!!hughugs

Becky said...

LOL, while it's hard to keep up with now, it's probably one of her strengths...something she'll need in the future. Maybe she'll end up being a wedding planner or someone who oversees all the details of large projects in her workplace one day...ya never know!

Adrian said...

Tell her to put in her day planner that she needs to marry my Blake - about 12 years from now. 'Cuz they are just alike! He starts planning his next birthday - when? The day BEFORE his current birthday. He starts planning his Christmas list in January.

My standard answer - when will we plan your birthday - On the first day of May. When do we plan Christmas - December 1st. He just HAS to know what is coming up in the future and when and how and who. Makes me psycho!

Hannah said...

Hahaha sounds like me whenever I was a little girl!
Growing up, I lived it Austin, TX, so I basically asked for the exact same things as she. Although, I do remember actually asking to go to Chuck E. Cheeses several times...lol.

l,
Hannah

aaahh, just wait til she's a teenager.....

Your girl is just so sweet kellan and quite the little planner!!!
Hope she eventually decides where she wants to go!!
love and hugs to you XXXXXXXX

forgetfulone said...

She sounds like my kinda girl, and by the sound of it, I'm guessing you're in the San Antonio/Austin area. Those are all great places to visit, birthday or otherwise!

Lisa said...

I need to hire her! I am such a procrastinator!

The Fritz Facts said...

Rodent Place...hadn't heard it called that in a while. I hate hate hate that place, and will NOT take my kids there if I can help it. ew

Does she want to come plan our holiday's this year...it always takes forever.

Hi Kellan

Me again. I have a special award waiting for you. Stop by when you get a chance.

Hugs!

Oh that is all sorts of perfect Kellan. It could be worse, right? And for the record, I would LOVED to have met you at BlogHer too.

Now then, can I rent your daughter? :)

I think you may be right about that filthy germ hole. My son in law took my granddaughter one day and we all got sick right after that. Funny story!

Nicki said...

Well its a good thing she's got so many ideas for her huge fantastic parties! Maybe she could be on that Sweet Sixteen show on MTV where they throw a huge bash!
In other news... Little Bear is turning 5 next week and GUESS where she's having her party!

dani said...

thank you, GOD, katherine has never been one for the animated nor costumed!!! i think she and i both would rather do just about anything than go to cec's!!!
i am totally with you on that one, kellan:)
have a good night!!!
love,
dani

No worries - it looks like she has the next four years already mapped out. That's less work for you!!! Go Alexis!! HA!

Take care. Yvette

We were just discussing C.E. Cheese the other night and how I can't stomach the idea of taking our kid anywhere that would require her bathing in Purell when it's over. Yuck. Even sitting in the shopping cart at the grocery store....On the other hand...she does crawl around on OUR floors all the time. :S

Andrea said...

ah yes...the wedding planning will be quite eventful, i can see it now.

Stacie said...

just the mention of chuck e cheese makes me want to vomit.

Leah said...

Well, at least she always has her mind working... LOL

Janet said...

Thank God we have no chuckie cheese here. THe closest one is 3 hours away and the kids will never hear about it. If they get invited to a party there, it will unfortunately be on a weekend we aren't available. Every time.
The Queen has been making lists since right before she turned 4. She can actually write letters, so the items are interesting, if unpronounceable. And I'm sure not available at our store.
I'd vote for Schlitterbaun.

That Alexis is such a character! Never a dull moment, I'm sure.
