Grumble ... Grumble ... Grumble

It was 4:38 p.m. in the afternoon.

Alexis had just come from swimming in the pool.

She found me on the front porch where I was there watering the plants.

She sat on the steps.

She said, "Mom," a deep sigh. "When are we going to have lunch?"

OH NO!

I looked at her.

I waited a moment.

I said ...

"Hon ..." I aimed the water hose at a fern and doused it with a stream of water. "It's nearly 5:00 - it's almost time for dinner."

She threw herself back on the tiled porch.

She let out a squeaky squeal.

She said ...

"Ooooooooh - I missed lunch," she was about to cry. "And ..." she put her hands over he eyes, "I didn't even have breakfast," she was very distraught.

I looked at her.

I waited a moment.

I said ...

"And you are still alive?" *smile*

*tiny giggle from the hungry daughter*

On the upside ... I hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch either and ... I was ALSO STILL ALIVE!

That is too funny!! I wish I could forget to eat on occasion!! I bet you guys had a great dinner :)

You know, I didn't eat any breakfast, and didn't get around to lunch until after 2 pm. Even then it was just a quick bowl of cereal. School is upon us and honestly, I haven't had a moment to catch my breath long enough to sit down to a "real" meal. Sadly, the kids have had fast food the last two days for lunch. Though I feel guilty about this, the kids think they have died and gone to heaven! :0)

My boys would peel all the skin off their faces before they let me forget a meal. They eat about 800 times a day. Little stinks. ;)

*lol* ... My daughter, Alicia, would think she was dying if she skipped a meal or two. (Alicia is the same age as your daughter, and Alicia also LOVES to eat *lol*)

Heh. No, my 4-year-old won't allow me to forget about lunch. The 2-year-old I have to beg to eat.

Summertime....and the livin' is easy....(to be sung:-)

Oh I've done that and I HATE it when it happens. I always end up gaining a pound or two when I forget to eat. But hey -- at least you're both still alive ;) And obviously not obsessing over food which is good, right?

My children think they have to have 3 meals a day, no matter what. Even if they have a late breakfast and then we're busy and have a a late lunch/early dinner, they feel that they've been cheated.
Crazy, crazy kids!

My brothers do that aaaaallll of the time! Hahha. It definitely gets them in summer when they're out playing and having fun and they don't even think about food, or their tummies growling, until later in the day.... Kids are so silly!

Hannah

Awww...Alexis. She is a girl after my own heart. Missing a meal will just never be right in her world :). She is so darn cute I just can't stand it! I'm just glad you both lived through the experience...

Have a wonderful day, Kellan Renee.

Wow. We never miss meals here. If breakfast/lunch/dinner are not being served on time there is much nashing of teeth. It's bad.

My kids usually ask me that question right after they've had lunch. I guess my food isn't memorable enough!

Is this your new diet regime? Boy, that's a tough one. :) Margie

Grant usually asks me for a snack as he is eating his first bite of dinner. He is still alive, too, even though I ALWAYS say NO.

On days that me and the kids miss meals it's either a really good productive day, too fun to eat, or a really horrible day, too overwhelming to get to food. I hope it was the former for you and Alexis!

Time flies when you're having fun swimming!! :)

My guess is you both survived and had a yummy dinner!

When I was babysitting last Saturday, I forgot to feed myself and the kids! They had been in bed for about 20 minutes when two of them, completely distraught, came into the living room freaking out. They couldn't BELIEVE they missed supper!!!! (So, we made S'mores. Long live babysitters!)

I wish I could forget to eat....at least once a day.
My kids were never big eaters when they were young so we did have to remind ourselves sometimes back then.

Speaking of breakfast I forgot to eat that today too. :) Poor sweet Alexis I bet she cleaned her plate though!! :)

I bet she ate a REALLY good dinner, especially after swimming. I get like that sometimes, when I'm busy or focused on a project. People have to remind me to eat then. I just forget sometimes. Haha.

Yay! You are a survivor! :D I love the stories you always have to share! :D

Funny, my littles don't let me miss a meal however I hardly ever actually get to eat a meal myself except dinner. It certainly won't hurt me to miss a meal or two(thousand). LOL.

It's crazy how much they can eat, sometimes they forget theat they have.

I'm happy to hear everyone's alive and well though! ;)

Hi Kellan! Just popping by to say hi! I had a bad day today and just knew I'd feel uplifted if I stopped by here, and I was right. Hope you and the family are all doing well.
