Ribbons In The Sky

There are days ... when I find a smile.

There are days ... when there is no sun.

There are days when I reach for a ribbon ...

And when I pull it ...

It comes undone.

There are days when I turn a corner ...

And a friend is standing there.

And then there are those others ...

Where friends aren't anywhere.

I've been lucky in my life ...

To have known my share of love.

I've been lucky in my life ...

To feel the love ...

From God above.

My garden has gone untended ...

The weeds have grown knee high ...

I've found myself distracted ...

By ribbons ...

In the sky.

Today I bought some flowers.

Today ...

I make things right.

*I received an apology e-mail from the person that I became angry with yesterday. I also offered an apology, as she felt she had been misunderstood and indicated that her comment was not meant to hurt me or make me angry - she was just being honest. She explained her position, why she said what she said and I can see her point of view. I sincerely appreciate her offering an apology. We still don't see eye-to-eye on that post, but that's okay.

I hope you're feeling better today...if the poem is any indication then I KNOW that you're feeling better and I'm SO glad.

Did you write that?

That was very beautiful. :D

Pretty flowers (you must not be feeling ugly) hehe Glad you had a brighter day and even though you two do not see eye to eye, you can resolve the issue of feeling hurt.

Have a wonderful day Kellan!

Sorry I've been absent for a while. I enjoyed the poem and glad that you and your friend made amends. It's so hard to carry that in your heart, especially if it's to do with a friend. It can be hard, but well worth, even if you don't end up seeing eye to eye.

Michelle said...

Yay, that was a short stay away! So glad you're feeling better. Glad that you were able to resolve it and it sounds like put it away.

Huh. I thought the flower story was cute. And I have taught in the past. But anyway... glad you are feeling better!

That is beautiful Kellan and I am glad you both apologized. It's not necessary to always see eye to eye and it's good you can both agree to disagree.

Beautiful words to live by Miz Kellan.

I'm happy for you that things have been ironed out. I reckon if we all had the same opinions about things, imagine how dull this old world would be.

So sweet. I'm glad you got it worked out. You had me worried that "On the Upside" would be gone for a long time. . . Glad you are back!

Move over Hallmark!

You've read my stuff when I've gone off on someone. You're such a classy lady. I tell someone not to pee in my pool and you come up with poetry.

Indeed. Hmmm. commenting is kinda like email. sometimes I screw up like that too. I get all huffy and type something in and then...oops...you can't take it back once you hit SEND.

Guess we get to go through that part to enjoy the rest??

I like to buy flowers for myself too. They do amazing things to my emotions when I see those beautiful creations of God.

I don't know how but they just do.

Oh I'm so glad you're back! And I'm so glad things turned out as they did; agreeing to disagree is an often-overlooked option, and one that works. I'm glad, too, that your commenter is not a troll after all. Trolls never try to work things out. YAY, because I discovered I don't like it when you're unhappy :)!

Have a WONDERFUL day, Kellan Renee. Beautemous poem and beautemous pix!!!

So glad you're back.
I was beginning to wonder how I would get through my days without my daily dose from the Upside.

Its nice to know that you both communicated with each other. And if you still don't see eye to eye, that's ok. You've expressed your feelings and now you can move on.

I'm glad you haven't given up on blogging either!

Courtney said...

I'm glad you got an apology and I'm glad you offerred one as well. You won't always see eye to eye and that's fine. It doesn't mean you can't still call that person a friend.

I think sometimes feelings are hard to convey through typed words. Sometimes typed words seem harsh when they aren't meant to be. There's no facial expressions, voice tones, or body language to soften the typed words. And Humor is sometimes lost in the typed word.

Hooray!! You're back, I was worried there for a moment. Glad things were worked out & you're right, it's okay not to see eye to eye, it's those type of things that keep our lives interesting.

Hugs & Blessings to you my friend!

I'm so happy for you that she offered an apology and you did in return. The poem was perfect for the post. That's the way it should be - live and let live.

Stacie said...

AWE, that is wonderful, I hope the anonymous commentor on my blog would do the same, not apologize, but maybe explain herself in a more tactful way.

But that is about me. I am glad you both talked!

So glad to see you are back!

Kellan, you are an amazing woman. I love this poem. I also love that while you don't see eye to eye, that you were agile and willing to see this person's point of view and respect her perspective. If the whole world could assume this attitude, it would be such a nicer place to live.

Thanks for your wonderful example. And... I am so glad you are back and writing again. I love your positive thoughts. :)

Sometimes you just have to agree to disagree . . . life would be pretty boring if we all had the same views!

Dear Kellan, I am so glad the misunderstanding has been cleared up because I know how much you were hurt over this. It hurts me when I know you have been hurt. I know as well as many others how loving, caring, compassionate and giving you are and how much you would never do anything on purpose to hurt others. I love you Kellan. Glad you are feeling better about the situation. Love, Mom. P.S. Your blogger friends should see some of the poems that you have written about your Children when they were each brought into the world.!!!!! Beautiful~!!!!!!!

What a beautiful poem. I'm glad things were worked out. It's okay not to see eye to eye on things.

Darla said...

That would be nice to see some of your other poetry! I, too, write poetry when I'm feeling the deepest- very, very sad, very very happy, or very, very moved in any direction.

So glad to see the issue has been addressed. I had kinda hoped whoever had written the comment would contact you in some way and could resolve things. AND, good thing you didn't put her name on the post. There could have been a LOT more hurt before she would have had a chance to apologize.

Beautiful poem!

I'm so glad you were able to work things out. I suppose that's the hard part about writing: you never know how the reader will interpret what you wrote. And, it's not necessary to see eye-to-eye on everything, 'cuz well, that would just make us all boring, wouldn't it ;)

Glad to see you blogging again,
Love,
Tania

Learning to express our difference of opinions in a civilized manner will end many problems in this world. We are all different. Our views on humor are different. our views on rudeness are different. Our views on parenting are different. It is how we handle the differences that separates us from the animals and sometimes not so distinctly. I think we are all guilty of it, though.

Beautiful poem. and glad to see you're still blogging. Nice that you received an apology. Personally, I don't think "just being honest" is an excuse for meanness, (I didn't read the comment,) . Sometimes in blogging we can feel so anonymous or so distant from the person we are commenting to that we don't exercise the same discretion we would in real life. We all must be cautious about our choice of words.
