There was practice on Wednesday evenings.
I would take Alexis to gather with her friends and my niece in the choir room on the second floor.
She would chatter in the car on the way across town.
Her excitement was evident.
When I'd pull into the parking lot she would jump from her seat and run from the car as fast as she could.
She would turn back, only briefly, to smile and wave and then she would vanish quickly into the church.
Weeks prior to their first big performance, she would ramble daily about the date to come, the expectations and ... the songs.
She would sing the songs for me.
She would practice her movements.
And then ...
The big day finally arrived.
Alexis set her Betty Boop alarm clock and rose early.
She put on her pretty floral church dress and white shoes.
Mama fixed her hair and sprayed it with a touch of hairspray.
She was ready.
I, with my family, found a seat in the church near the front.
My sister-in-law sat on my right side and my husband was on my left.
My twin daughters were there as well.
We waited.
The music began.
The children entered the sanctuary and made their way to the stage, in front of the pulpit.
They walked quietly and orderly.
They formed a semi-circle ... 3 rows of 10.
They each wore burgundy choir robes in petite sizes.
They looked like little angels.
I searched the faces of the children.
I looked for my niece and I found her.
I waved.
I looked for Alexis.
I looked some more.
I leaned over to my sister-in-law, "Where's Alexis? Do you see Alexis?"
She gazed over at the children.
She leaned back towards me, "There she is," and she pointed, "There --- the one ... wiping the snot ... on her robe sleeve."
"Oh, yes - now I see her ........."
On the upside ... They sang beautifully.

*LOL* I do hope they launder them before the next use. hahaha
So very pretty though. :)
Isn't that what those big choir robe sleeves are for? ;p
It's such a good thing you are blogging/journaling all of this...it is impossible to remember otherwise!
~airmanMom returning to her blog...
Now what else is a girl to do with her snot just when the performance of a lifetime is about to begin..Choir robe I say...choir robe!!!
Oh I can't WAIT for the wee ones to be in choir. What a cutie pie -- and I LOVE that dress. LOVE it.
What's a little snail trail when one is about to perform? A lot if her momma is looking!
Cute picture of her.
A cutie like that can do anything she wants....
Ha! Ha! Ha! I had to laugh out loud at that one.
OMG - that is too funny!
My little brother, during Christmas choir ut his hands deep into his pockets and just started to belt out the tunes...he did not wait for the instruments, or other people - just started siging well, actually screaming the songs at the top of his lungs...and did the whole repetoire on his own!
I swear, that child gets more adorable every time I see her. You may be able to tell that I have kind of a soft spot for her :).
At least she didn't pick her nose!
Well you can't have it running down the front of your face. That would be gross.
I am very jealous of your sleeveless clothing there. We would freeze to death if we went out in less than a parka.
She is very pretty.
Spoken like the proudest of Mommas. She's a jewel Miz Kellan.
A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do. Have a wonderful Tuesday!
LOL, atta girl ...it's all about the look ...can't have snot dripping!
She looks adorable ...darling dress!
Choir robes with shiny sleeves? Tres chic, Maman, tres chic!
Oh my goodness...that was priceless!

LOL, and she also looked beautiful.
Beautiful!! :) LOL!
better than sucking it off her top lip; no???

Ha! Thanks for the good morning chuckle! Sometimes our kids make us proud in more ways than one, don't they?
Hey, at least she didn't use her own clothes, right? :)
*rofl* ... Sounds like a Kodak moment to me!!!
P.S. Happy Belated Anniversary!
hahah .. priceless moment as a Mom ... "that's MY kid".
Hope you got a picture of THAT! I'm sure no one else noticed because they were too busy looking to see what their kids were doing. She looked so pretty!
Why waste a tissue when you have those perfectly good sleeves just hanging there? That is what my son thinks, anyway...
Yay for the beautiful singing!
♥ She is so cute! Love the picture! I love listening to children sing! :)
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! What a great story . . . she's a doll. And I LOVE the dress :-)
You are so hilarious Kellan. You can find humor in almost any situation. I love it. I know I am most certainly guaranteed a laugh when I stop by :)
Alexis looks beautiful BTW in her dress that was hidden under the snot covered robe.
LOL! She had to wipe it somewhere Mom! (:
Whew! I'm glad my kids aren't the only ones who do that.....
I love that pic of her!!!
She's beautiful! And what fun memories...snot robed and all! I LOVE music and singing.

I swear to you, my boys could be the ones in this story (minus the flowered church dress and the hairspray, of course.) It doesn't matter how well you train 'em up, there is bound to be one of those moments that makes you "just so proud"... ;D She was probably overwhelmed at the emotion of the big day, right? Sounds good to me!
Glad you had fun! -MM
Oh dear, Alexis sounds quite alot like me when I was a little girl. I could always be counted on to be the one caught doing something inappropriate! LOL
Glad to hear they sang so beautifully! I expected nothing less!
Aww, poor thing, runny noses are the worst thing in the world! But on the upside, she look darling in that dress, she's looking all grown up.
Your Alexis is way to cute..
lol- sorry about the snot thing
It is so going around..ugh.
Bwhahahaha!!!! Sounds like my family. Oh wait, my son's finger would be lodged up his nostril, not wiping it!
Alexis is so cute, I have no doubt she can get away with wiping her snot on her sleeve. My youngest Em, will not use a napkin. At dinner, she'll have a napkin right next to her and she still wipes her hands on her clothes. EVERY TIME!
She sure does look like an Angel!
I bet she sings equally well too!
Take care my friend.
~Sandra~
xoxo
At least she didn't PICK her nose- or her butt! ;P
Ha Ha that is a great story and I think that all kids have done that a time or two!
LOL!
She looks really cute in those pictures.
I had the unfortunate experience of attending a nephew's football game at an upscale private school. My sister in law and I were searching among our relatives in the stands trying to locate our boys who were both about 3 at the time. Another SIL called out, "They're back there!" We looked over our shoulders in the top of the stands just in time to see them peeing into the wind, the sunlight coming from behind, highlighting the glistening streams, lol. **blushes**
Your daughter seems leaps and bounds more dignified, lol.
So funny!!
She sure is pretty though.
Love and hugs XXX
Are our kids related?
Luckily, those angelic voices can help us to forget a LOT of the less savory aspects of childhood.
LOL!
She looks like a little angel in that photo!
LOL! Well, it could have been worse. ;)
Psh. My kids could have a tissue in each hand, and they'd still use their sleeve.
Of course it has to be your child! Doesn't it?!
Alexis looks so beautiful and grownup in these pictures, Kellan.
Chicago BlogHer 09? mmmmmm...
Oh my goodness. She has your smile. She looks so much like you!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA!!!! Love it!
She is beautiful, Kellan. Just beautiful!
