I've Been Around Too Long To Be This Stupid

Sometimes ...

I have no will-power.

I try to be strong.

I try to make good choices.

I try to keep on track and not let the tiny details in life distract me from the big picture.

I'm not as strong as I used to be.

I'm pretty much the biggest push-over that ever existed.

I know ...

I was adamant!

I was certain!

I was determined to win this battle!

But ...

I'm a wimp.

A marshmallow.

A fluff ball.

A SUCKER!

I caved ...

His name is Remis (named after a werewolf character in Harry Potter. He looks frightening - doesn't he?).

It's not because everyone around me is smarter (okay - maybe they are a little smarter).

It's not because I've lost my mind (okay - maybe I've lost my mind).

It's not because I have no common sense (okay - I obviously have no common sense).

It's not because I can't stand my ground (okay - I've been on sinking sand for more years than I will admit to anyone).

It's not that I let myself become distracted by the tiny details in life and allowed them to blind me from the big picture ...

Okay ... I became just a little distracted.

The older girls named the pup Remis.

Alexis: "What's the pup's name again?"

Me: "I don't know. I call him Penis."

Alexis: "Here Penis. Come on boy!"

I call the pup Penis. The older girls don't find this funny. It makes me feel just a little better to be sarcastic - makes me feel like I'm somehow less stupid for taking my eyes off the big picture!

Oh my goodness, he is beautiful. I love the name your child picked! What a great doggy name!

You definitely need to lose your nickname for the poor puppy. lol

How cute!! We have a golden retriever and I wish they would stay puppies forever.
BTW - When you let the dog out to potty, do you call him back in by, "Come on Penis!" ?

Kelly said...

Oh Kellan, I can so see myself being in the same position someday soon! My boys have been wanting a dog for ages. I have to say, he's one cute little guy though!!

How could you NOT cave to that cute little face! Been there, done that, got the puppy, too! I know your hesitation. It's because you and I both know who will ultimately be "cleaning up" after it and making sure he's fed. Like I said, "Been there, done that...still in the process of doing it!" :)

Bwhaha! Well if you're going to go down might as well make a big splash. I could imagine the look of angst when the girls heard your name for him.

I got suckered into one that looked like that 4 years ago and she is the best thing to happen to this family since the last child was potty-trained.

If you get a minute, drop by and see what I am up to.

Oh that cute puppy face! Nobody can deny that face.

But wait in about 5 months that little face will help your spine remember how to stand tall!

LOL! What a cute puppy. With that face, I bet that dog will get his way with me all the time. That face can surely launch a thousand ships! LOL

YOU DIDN'T ?? YOU CAVED! You area marshmallow!

Becky said...

The trick is to never, ever LOOK at the puppies. Because one look into their pleading little puppy-dog eyes, and you're a gonner.

The other trick is to hold the kids to all their promises of, "I'll feed it and take it for walks everyday!"

Ahem. At least that works for some people. Other people. It doesn't quite work for me, because I look at the puppies every time. And then end up doing all the work.

Sigh. You have a cute...Remis. ;)

Simply_Pam said...

Hope you husband doesn't get penis envy ! lmao

Jaina said...

Lol to Simply Pam.

He is SOOOOOOO cute!

Remis is ADORABLE!

I kept reading "penis" - even after stopping and reading carefully, it still comes into my mind as penis. Good luck with that!

Tabitha said...

Oh Kellan, he is the cutest!
I am still laughing that you call him 'penis' that could turn some heads when you take him out for a walk "here penis........come on boy"!!!!!!!!! bahahahahahah.
Love and hugs Tab XXXX

I am partial TO ANYTHING golden retriever, so I totally relate. I just wanna smooch that pooch!

I love YOUR name for him. You know I'll never be able to call him anything else now. I was wondering if you would cave, knowing the girls would be going off to college. At least you have little Billy and Alexis to help you take care of him. Now Matthew's going to start bugging me for a dog again. I keep telling him he can have all the dogs he wants when he has has own home. He's going to want to come live with you now.
Love ya'll, Vic

Penis? LMAO!!

SOOOO ADORABLE!!!!!!!

Don't let me show these pictures to my hubby! He's been wanting another puppy since our boy is now 2. Sheesh!

chloe said...

it's spelled "Remus" like "remus and romulus" like as in Roman history... and as in Remus Lupin in Harry Potter... it's frustrating when you call him "penis" because it's not really funny at all.... it's quite embarassing actually.

thanks for the dog though. thought i'd let you know how his name was spelled anyway.

and happy late birthday mom.

What an adorable little puppers! He is too cute! Yeah, I can totally relate to having no backbone. When they are that cute, I give in too. Which is why we have 4 furry beasts-2 dogs and 2 cats. And my son is trying to convince me to get another cat. Hasn't worked yet. Probably because he hasn't found the one he wants and brought it home yet! LOL!!!Have fun with Remis.

AWWWWWW I could not resist myself. I want a sweet puppy so bad but we can't have one in our house now, so we shall wait a little longer.
